To the hell, there are three gates that ruin the Self: desire, anger, and greed. Hence, one should avoid these three.

Shri Purohit Swami

The gates of hell are three: lust, wrath and avarice. They destroy the Self. Avoid them.

Swami Adidevananda

Desire, wrath and greed - this is the triple gateway to Naraka, ruinous to the self. Therefore one should abandon these three.

Swami Gambirananda

This door of hell, which is the destroyer of the soul, is of three kinds-passion, anger and also greed. Therefore one should forsake these three.

Swami Sivananda

Triple is the gate of this hell, destructive of the self–lust, anger, and greed,–therefore, one should abandon these three.
