Translation stream
Being born and reborn, the same multitude of beings is dissolved when night approaches and is born again, willy-nilly, when day approaches, O son of Prtha!
The same multitude of beings, which have lived on earth so often, all are dissolved as the night of the universe approaches, to issue forth anew when morning breaks. Thus is it ordained.
The same multitude of beings comes forth again and again irresistibly, and is dissolved at the coming of the night. And again it comes forth at the coming of the day.
O son of Prtha, after being born again and again, that very multitude of beings disappears in spite of itself at the approach of night. It comes to life at the approach of day.
This same multitude of beings, born again and again, is dissolved, helplessly, O Arjuna, (into the unmanifested) at the coming of the night, and comes forth at the coming of the day!

The scriptures speak of This as Unmanifest and Changeless, and declare This to be the highest Goal. Having attained it, people do not return; this is My highest abode.
The wise say that the Unmanifest and Indestructible is the highest goal of all; when once That is reached, there is no return. That is My Blessed Home.
This has been called unmanifest (Avyakta) and imperishable (Aksara). This, they say, is the highest goal. This is My highest abode, reaching which the selves do not return to Samsara.
He who has been mentioned as the Unmanifested, the Immutable, they call Him the supreme Goal. That is the supreme abode of Mine, reaching which they do not return.
What is called the Unmanifested and the Imperishable, That they say is the highest goal (path). They who reach It do not return (to this cycle of births and deaths). That is My highest abode (place or state).

But there exists another Being which is beyond this, and It is both manifest and unmanifest and is eternal. It is this Being that does not perish while all other beings perish.
In truth, therefore, there is the Eternal Unmanifest, which is beyond and above the Unmanifest Spirit of Creation, which is never destroyed when all these being perish.
There is, however, another non-manifest being than this non-manifest entity, which is eternal; this is not destroyed when all entities are destroyed.
But distinct from that Unmanifested is the other eternal unmanifest Reality, who does not get destroyed when all beings get destroyed.
But verily there exists, higher than the unmanifested, another unmanifested Eternal who is not destroyed when all beings are destroyed.
