Generating joy in him, the powerful paternal grandfather (Bhisma), the senior-most among the Kurus, roared like a lion and blew his conchshell loudly.

Shri Purohit Swami

Then to enliven his spirits, the brave Grandfather Bheeshma, eldest of the Kuru-clan, blew his conch, till it sounded like a lion's roar.

Then the valiant grandsire Bhisma, seniormost of the Kuru clan, roaring like a lion, blew his conch with a view to cheer up Duryodhana.
